Birdy - Skinny Love
Last year 16 yr old Jasmine Van den Bogaerde, or Birdy as she is affectionately known, struck YouTube gold with her smouldering rendition of Bon Iver’s Skinny Love. 21 million hits later and the track has finally been given an official Australian release. Not really sure what took them so long?
Birdy has released an album of covers that is out on Warner Bros and available through her website and all the expected music retailers you can think of. Hear her haunting covers of Phoenix, The XX and The National to name but a few. What’s missing is the cover of Ed Sheeran’s The A Team recorded for the Radio 1 live lounge which is rather beautiful. Fragile vocals, stark, bare boned piano playing collide to make a unmistakable experience.
