Headlining this announcement is no other than Grammy winning singer/songwriter Jason Mraz whose song ‘I’m Yours’ has captured the hearts of millions of people across the globe.
To add to this Manu Chao and his band La Ventura have been included in the ever expanding line up described as one of the most charismatic and energetic musicians around today. His anti-Globalisation and Anti Free Trade stance has won him legions of fans around the world.
Already headlining the Dream Bluesfest Line-up are Paul Simon, Robert Plant presents Sensational, Space Shifters, Santana, Ben Harper, Steve Miller Band, Iggy & The Stooges, Wilco, Rodriquez, Chris Isaak, Roger Hodgson from Supertramp and so, so many more.

This weekend Sydney hip hop group Electric Elements return to Sydney’s Brighten Up Bar in Darlinghurst with ‘Hand That MC A Mic #2′. The high energy outfit take us through their new EP, No Place Like Home, taking time out to explain the music influences behind their EP and how it came to be.
“We wanted to write a little something to introduce our upcoming EP ‘No Place Like Home’. Perhaps even mention the lead single ‘Change Of Heart‘ that we have recently released and that can be found on Triple J Unearthed and YouTube. But we decided against it… Instead, we thought we would put something together on how we got to where we are musically. We have just spent the best part of 12 months writing and recording an EP and that kind of passion for something has to come from somewhere.
Well, as I (Pro MC) write this on behalf of Electric Elements, I realise that the passion most likely comes from my parents to start with, most notably my Dad. There was not a minute of the day he wasn’t playing something. Singing along to whatever came on. Schooling me to Creedence Clearwater Revival, Eric Clapton, BB King, The Beatles and about a thousand others. To this day my iPod is still half full of what he played me as a kid. I know deciBel is the same way. We have known each other long enough for me to tell you that he would not have the passion he does if his Mum wasn’t such a lover of music. Hell, we’ve even sampled vinyls she sourced for us in the past haha!
What we’ve done here, however, is put together a list of four albums that have been instrumental in shaping us, our music and the latest EP in any way. Obviously, there are countless we could have gone with, but we thought we’d pay homage to those Australian Hip Hop albums that have meant something. Enjoy the read.
Check out this awesome new clip from the jubilant boys and girls of the Jungle Giants. I caught them playing at the Beach Rd hotel this week and loved every second of it. Bursting full of energy the Brisbane four piece have going gangbusters since I first wrote about them.
Picking up regular rotation on triple j, and some sweet support spots including last nights show against Ball Park Music. The Beach Rd is a notorious hipster hang out and I find the crowds there always take a while to really get into a band but the Jungle Giants nailed it.
The clip for their latest release, Mr Polite, is not only one of coolest clips I’ve seen in a while but captures the youthful exuberance and playful nature of their music. Keep your ears out for more from these guys with the EP available now it’s just a matter of time before they’ll be headlining paid gigs some place near you.

It’s taken a little while to get back into the swing of things but without any further ado I present a brand spanking new Polyphonic Three featuring the musical talents of We Say Bamboulee, Eagle & The Worm and Ball Park Music. Rather conveniently, all three are on tour together as part of the Triple Rainbow Tour kicking off in March.
First up Sydney locals We Say Bamboulee. Seeped in seventies symphonic sounds with layered harmonies and quirky beats these chaps build tracks like ants build nests. Complex, rich sounding melodies bring together ideas of seaguls flocking at sunset and peanut butter and jelly sandwhiches. They’ve made album of the week in The Bragg and on fbi yet sadly till now we’ve never seen them live… This is about to change with the upcoming Triple Rainbow tour coming our way soon. More on that later.
Eagle and the Worm are up next with possible the most upbeat sound I’ve heard in a long time. With a sound that’s so much fun it’s bonkers! Like early offerings from The Bee’s this Melbourne based 8 piece seem sure to offer an amazing live act. Their debut single Futureman was mixed catchy 70′s riffs reminiscent of Mungo Jerry with drunken keys and woozey brass sounds. The follow up single made the might J… And now we’re playing it… Hold on team, things are about to go gang busters… Seriously though, these guys are putting in the effort; national tours, and festival spots galore. Brisbane’s Ball Park Music wrap the round up of three mighty Australian acts. These cheeky little scamps have been cooking up a storm since their debut Sad Rude Future Dude was picked up by the real life radio stations becoming quite a big deal. You know the one about not having many friends and only having sex with himself… It became bit of an unsung anthem for Tim who related heavily. Bless.
Its a powerful trio from a mighty record label that seems to have one of the strongest rosters in the land, keep your eye’s on Mucho Bravado, they doing good things for good music!
The tour comes by our way on the 3rd March kicking off in Cronulla’s Brass monkey on the 3rd March before heading to the Gaelic Hotel in Sydney on the 4th. Hopefully we’ll be there to review it and can tell all about it on The Walk of Shame that Saturday.
