London Five piece Spector are the latest signing at Luv Luv Luv records, home to Florence + the machine and Babeshadow. The band and have recently released their first single, Never Fade Away, and it’s a ripper. Hugely atmospheric sounds belie intimate lyrics akin to early Joy Division, full of hope and joy. Front man Fred Macpherson (@Bloodroyale) has been in embedded in the London scene for some time fronting indie band Les Incompetents circa 2005 and with the help of this ballsy slice of perfect indie pop one expects to see the name go global.
Spector released Never Fade Away on Luv Luv Luv Records this year.
Check out this awesome little number from Florence Welch & Co. Recorded in New Orleans last year in the midst of Florence and the Machine’s North American tour, the cover is part of a forthcoming Buddy Holly tribute album, Rave On Buddy Holly, which commemorates the late musician’s 75th birthday. The album features tracks by My Morning, Jacket, Paul McCartney and Lou Reed to name but a few and thanks to the tip off from Nowness I get to spread to the word here.
Florence delivers a Bourbon infused jive rendition of the number fusing her trademark lungs with the lazy brass sounds of New Orleans. Kudos to the management for getting heavily involved in the video which was shot by long standing mischief maker and creative director Tabatha Denholm on location in the States. Luv their work.
Rave On Buddy Holly has just been released on Fantasy Records/Concorde Music Group. Go get it!
